In particular, the information system of the National Certification Authority (NCC) created for these purposes ensures the issuance of TLS certificates using both Russian and other cryptographic algorithms.
The task of a TLS/SSL certificate is to secure the HTTPS connection between the Internet resource and the user’s browser. To protect the user from the risk of interception and data spoofing, web browsers block access to an Internet resource that does not have a certificate. Now the work of Russian certificates is supported by domestic browsers Yandex.Browser and Atom.
“On behalf of the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Russia, on the basis of the National Certification Center, the Voskhod Research Institute provides an opportunity for Russian site owners to obtain security certificates without contacting foreign certification centers, which is important in the context of the sanctions policy. Any legal entity or public authority can obtain one or more TLS-certificates free of charge and embed them in their information resources.
