On the occasion of the Venice Glass Week 2024, scheduled from 14th to 22nd September, The Merchant of Venice presents a new and exclusive collection in which Venetian glass art meets artistic perfumery in its most concentrated expression: the essential oil.
For the first time, the brand offers three luxurious fragrances entirely formulated in oil, called Nectar, which, inspired by the ancient recipe of the Regale Unguentum of Pliny the Elder, combine refined and mysterious raw materials. A precious elixir, which could only be kept inside a iconic bottle which pays homage to the art of glassmaking, inextricably linked to the lagoon city. Since ancient times, glass has in fact been a treasure chest of aromas, ointments and perfumes, used for its stability and ability to guarantee the quality of its contents for a long time. Venice has cultivated the art of blown glass, becoming its undisputed capital over the centuries and it is precisely from the expert hands of master glassmakers that it has taken shape the art glass designed for The Merchant of Venice by the well-known glass artist Michela Cattai to enclose the Nectars.
The limited edition collection with fifty numbered pieces for each of the three shades of color (amber, red and green) is made of Venetian blown glass Bulicante. The bottle has a round shape that represents a glass casket inspired by the ancient architecture of Venice and is crowned by a pinnacle cap in crystal color, embellished with a gold leaf.
The three highly concentrated oil fragrances linger on the skin like an infinite caress of a perfumed symphony, captivating and at the same time imperious, which tells of a fairy-tale world of opulence and grandeur that cannot be resisted:
INEBRIAN NECTAR by Marion Costero and Gaël Montero
REGAL NECTAR by Gael Montero
SWEET NECTAR by Veronique Nyberg
The special exhibition will be set in the rooms of the Palazzo Mocenigo Museum, in the path dedicated to Perfume, where the public will be able to enjoy three creations designed by Michela Cattai and made entirely by Venetian artisans.
The essences that have been created in combination with this exceptional collection will be presented Tuesday 17th September at 18:00 at the Palazzo Mocenigo Museum with the presence of Michela Cattai and the perfumer of The Merchant of Venice.
