THE Netherlands decided to reopen its embassy in Kyiv, as announced today, Friday (29/4) by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, while the war in Ukraine goes on.
The country withdrew its diplomatic staff from Ukraine two days after the February 24 invasion by Russian troops. Last week, the Netherlands reopened its embassy in Lviv, western Ukraine.
“A small group of the embassy there (in Kyiv) will work closely with the Ukrainian authorities and other partner countries that have returned,” said Dutch Foreign Minister Vopke Hextra in a message on social media. “It is important that we provide support to Ukraine on the ground,” he added, according to the Athens News Agency.
THE embassy in Kyiv will not yet be accessible for consular assistance.
Other European countries, including France, recently announced they were moving their embassies back to Kyiv.
