The neural network was connected to a telescope, and she noticed 8 strange signals from space. Potentially they are extraterrestrial

Many scientists from all over the world are actively studying space for alien life forms suitable for the formation of planetary life, or at least UFOs, but at the moment no one has been able to make an amazing discovery in this direction. However, the employees of the SETI (Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence) scientific project turned out to be very close to proving the existence of extraterrestrial life forms – for this they had to use a neural network that analyzed a lot of data received from space. And although so far it is impossible to clearly prove the existence of aliens, this is the first step in the right direction.

The fact is that the SETI project, founded in 1984, set itself the main task of scanning the sky above the planet Earth in search of radio signals consisting of the so-called “technosignatures”. These are signals received from outer space that may belong to alien technology. After all, if radio signals come from space that belong to technologies not created by man, it means that somewhere there is an intelligence that uses communication technologies. Unfortunately (or, according to sci-fi films, fortunately), until now, the scientists of the project have not been able to detect any hints of such technosignatures until artificial intelligence took over.

The experts took data from the telescope collected in 2016 as a basis, after which they transferred this information to the machine learning algorithm. The neural network analyzed more than 480 hours of data received from 820 stars, making an incredible discovery for the modern scientific world – eight signals are potentially of interest, although previously scientists and other search algorithms could not recognize anything surprising in them. Experts believe that these eight signals could potentially be technosignatures of extraterrestrial origin, that is, they came from equipment that was not developed by humans.

On the other hand, it is too early to prepare welcome posters for alien life forms – scientists note that these radio signals will still have to be studied in detail. Of course, they are of interest to the scientific community, but this is not at all a guarantee that the signal was received from an alien spacecraft – radio signals in space after time and distance can be transformed, there is an interference factor and many other points that need to be taken into account. Accordingly, now experts will study in detail the signals highlighted by artificial intelligence in order to decide what they really mean.
