The new Apple iPhones will have Russian software

According to Vedomosti, from April 1, when Apple iPhone smartphones are activated in Russia, domestic applications will be offered to users. Apple agreed to comply with the requirements of the law on the mandatory pre-installation of Russian software on smartphones and other electronic devices.

When you first set up an iPhone that was bought in Russia, users will see a dialog box in which they will, by default, be asked to install applications from Russian developers from a list approved by the government. At the same time, smartphone owners can refuse to install it by unchecking the checkboxes in front of certain applications.

Apple said the company complies with the laws of the countries in which it operates. The source also added that the Ministry of Digital Industry is discussing with Apple the issue of creating a selection of promising Russian applications in the App Store: “The ministry is not at all interested in the dominance of popular programs included in the list for mandatory preinstallation. If alternative offers that are interesting to users and are rapidly gaining popularity appear on the market, they will be included in this selection and will also be offered for preinstallation.».

The list of domestic applications, which must be installed on smartphones, tablets, PCs and smart TVs from April 1, includes browsers, antivirus and mapping software, instant messengers, mail agents and agents of online cinemas, the “State Services” service application, the Mir payment system application Pay and more.

Earlier, the government approved a mandatory list of applications, which includes products from Yandex, Mail.ru Group, Kaspersky Lab, Rostelecom, Channel One and other major Russian Internet and media companies.
