The next “critical” step in the course of the new bill for US-Greece defense cooperation will take place on Tuesday in its Foreign Affairs Committee Senate. In particular, the Law on Defense and Inter-Parliamentary Partnership US-Greece 2021, as it is officially named, will be put on the agenda of the committee. If it is finally voted in favor, the way will be paved for its submission to the plenary of the Senate.
It is recalled that the cross-party bill signed by the chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Robert Menendez, and Senator Marco Rubio, is attempting to take the next step in further deepening defense cooperation between Washington and Athens. In this light, it aspires to build on the momentum created by the East Med Act.
Therefore, it envisages specific initiatives for the upgrading of the defense cooperation between the two countries but also for the support of the modernization of the Greek Armed Forces.
