A design object and a car have at least one point in common: both are born with a pencil on a sheet of paper. That’s why to celebrate the European debut, the new one Honda Civic and: HEV has decided to show up at the Social Garden by Vanity Fairin progress at Outside the Salone of Milan during the Design Week. «We are delighted to be able to present a preview of the new Civic Full Hybrid to the Italian public. The car received an extraordinary response and hosting it at Design Week is a unique opportunity for us to involve aaudience wide and transversal, in an environment that fully reflects Honda’s future projection, ”he explains Simone Mattognothe General Manager of the car division of Honda Motor Europe Italy.
For this Milan Design Weekthe new Honda Civic shows itself in its bold forms of sports coupe. The new Civic features a streamlined roofline and a lower-positioned waistline, which significantly improves outward visibility and recreates the same sense of space as the original model. The step is lengthened by 35 mm compared to the previous generation, while it rear overhang decreased by 20 mm, as well as the overall height which is reduced overall. The highest point of the roof line is moved forward, with a gentle slope towards the tailgate that emphasizes the elegance of the car. Furthermore, compared to the previous generation both the hood that the fenders are lower than 25 mm, and the uprights set back by 50 mm. Technical solutions not only of design that offer the driver one important visibility. A streamlining process that also has the effect of making the wheels appear larger. These, together with the wider rear track and the edge of the wheel arches, create a lower and more decisive attitude by increasing the dynamic sense of the car.
The interior design is seamless with the outer one with a layout uncluttered and human-centric, featuring high-quality materials and touchpoints that enhance the driver and passenger experience. Inside, the innovative vents are positioned around the passenger compartment. This allows you to have a more consistent air flow, but less intrusive. Although the roofline has been lowered, the spaciousness of the passenger compartment remains the same of the previous model. The credit goes to the intelligent positioning of hybrid components in the frame and in the engine compartment. The load compartment of the new Civic retains the same load capacity as before, but with a wider tailgate opening for improved usability. The result is a car with space and features that allow it to be a viable alternative to larger vehicles such as SUVs.
Much attention has also been paid toinfotainment. “We paid great attention to creating an environment that would reduce the minimal need to move. The system ofinfotainment it is positioned in the driver’s perimeter view and to check information no need to move your head. This reduces distractions, the moments in which the gaze moves away from the road, improving safety, “he explains Yasunori Ogawa, Civic Interior Designer. The new version will be available in Europe starting fromautumn 2022.
