The regular unemployment benefit will again receive an increase in proportion to the increase of the minimum wage this year. According to the basic scenariowhich is on the government table, the minimum wage from May 1 will increase by 6%.
Since the regular unemployment benefit (as well as the other 22 specialist unemployment benefits) is calculated as a ratio of the minimum wage, a possible increase in the minimum wage by 6% will lead to an increase in the regular unemployment benefit by 6%.
For the second half of 2022, when the new increase of the minimum wage will “run”, its beneficiaries are expected to be up to 150,000 unemployed.
The following are mentioned on the renewed website of OAED (www.oaed.gr).
This means that a possible increase of 6% in the minimum wage will lead to the following result:
– for gross monthly earnings over 355.45 euros, the monthly allowance will amount to 431.68 euros.
-for gross monthly earnings from 177.73 euros to 355.44 euros, the monthly unemployment benefit will amount to 323.83 euros.
-for gross earnings up to 177.72 euros, the monthly unemployment benefit will amount to 215.97 euros.
Obviously the above amounts will be differentiated upwards for those beneficiaries of unemployment benefits who have protected members, as is usually the case with minor children.
So that an unemployed person with 2 minor children, based on the existing minimum wage, currently receives a benefit of 495.95 euros.
In case of increase of the minimum wage by 6%, this unemployed person will receive the amount of 525.65 euros.
A possible increase of 6% will be passed on to the Christmas Gift and the Easter Gift which are received by the beneficiaries of the regular unemployment benefits.
According to what is mentioned on the OAED website, the Christmas Gift is paid, provided the insured is subsidized during the period from May 1st to December 31st. For each full month of subsidy, 3 daily Christmas Gift bonuses are paid. For a subsidy for the entire aforementioned period, 25 daily allowances are paid. If a full month of subsidy is not completed, no Christmas Gift is paid.
Even an employee, without protected children, with a gross monthly salary of over 355.45 euros, is fired in April 2022 and is entitled to unemployment benefits from May to December 2022. He will receive an increased Christmas Gift of 431.68 euros in December. 2022.
The Easter Gift is paid, if the insured is subsidized during the period from January 1st to April 30th. For each full month of subsidy, 3 daily Easter Gift bonuses are paid.
A subsidy of 12.5 daily allowances is paid for the entire aforementioned period. If a full month of subsidy is not completed, no Easter Gift is paid.
