The new WATT Bio-Drying Unit was inaugurated in the Tribe

Shortly before the arrival of 2022, the investment of the WATT Bio-Drying Unit in the Tribe was completed, offering a significant breath of relief throughout Attica.

This project is the first of its kind in Greece and in combination with the other infrastructure of WATT KDAW, produces fuel from mixed municipal waste (such as KDAW waste) suitable for use in the cement industry. Thus, the company, with Thanasis Katris at its helm, managed to propose solutions to two modern problems, with a single move. Because the BAT Drying Unit of WATT was built based on a special design invented by Athanasios Katris and is a patent of the company.

The advantage of this technology is that it drastically reduces the landfill to less than 20% (as opposed to the 40% achieved by conventional waste treatment plants), while creating a high-energy material. With the technology of Bio-Drying, many more new units have been announced and will be implemented in Greece. Among them are the MEAs of Grammatikos and Schistos.

Through this new unit, WATT paves the way for a radical change in the landscape of waste management and the energy crisis. In addition, the company meets, in this way, the obligations of the contract that it recently signed with EDSNA for the transformation of a significant part of the residues of KDAW into fuel of high standards.

Demonstrating its know-how and utilizing innovative solutions, WATT has enriched, through this new investment, its rich arsenal by further upgrading its services and justifying its leading position in the field of waste management.
