According to Parity Data, the number of active addresses in the Polkadot blockchain ecosystem has reached 605,200. Almost half of them, about 248,000 addresses, are associated with the Moonbeam parachain.

Over 191,000 addresses are created directly on the Polkadot network. The decentralized IoT network Nodle accounts for 66,063 active addresses, followed by Polkadot's Astar parachain and the decentralized liquid staking protocol Bifrost with 24,262 and 16,907 addresses, respectively. The parachains with the most active addresses also included Acala (15,586) and Manta (14,178).

The number of unique accounts with non-zero balances is growing steadily. By the end of March, the number exceeded 5.59 million, up from 5.53 million at the end of February. Despite this growth, the overall volume of transactions on the network remains relatively low. In March, a total of 11.58 million transactions were made on the Polkadot blockchain. The figure is slightly higher than the April figure (10.8 million transactions), but in December 2023, 31.78 million transactions were made on Polkadot.

“Activity in the Polkadot ecosystem continues to grow. Many applications use specially allocated block space to prevent network spam. Polkadot strives for flexibility without compromising the sustainability of the ecosystem. Ultimately, this is good for users.”

Last September, Polkadot developers announced plans to roll out an update that would expand the number of parachains in the ecosystem to a thousand. This should increase the speed of transactions on the main network, the developers say.
