ConsenSys reported that the monthly audience of users of its main product – the MetaMask cryptocurrency wallet – exceeded 21 million.
In April, the number of active users of the Ethereum MetaMask wallet was 5 million. Thus, in seven months, the growth was 420%. Over the past three months, the figure has increased by 11 million.
According to an article on the ConsenSys blog, user growth is influenced by the popularity of Decentralized Finance (DeFi) and Collectible Token (NFT) projects. At the same time, there are no signs of a decrease in the excitement around such projects.
“One of the main drivers of audience growth has become gaming projects – recently, hundreds of games have appeared that require a cryptocurrency wallet to work with. We also see that users who initially came to the game project are starting to use decentralized finance applications, ”said MetaMask COO Jacob Cantele.
As a reminder, a version of the MetaMask Institutional wallet with functions for institutional investors was recently launched. In mid-November, MetaMask developers restored support for Ledger Nano hardware wallets.
