One in three people no longer wear face protection masks anywhere in Brazil, reveals a survey commissioned by the National Confederation of Industry (CNI) and carried out by the FSB Institute, which was released this Monday (29).
According to the survey, from April to July, the rate of those who stopped using protection almost doubled, from 17% to 32%.
Among those who continue with the habit, acquired after the emergence of the Covid-19 pandemic, adherence to masks continues, especially in closed places.
From April to July this year, the percentage of Brazilians who said they use masks only indoors remained stable (from 53% to 52%) and the percentage of those who use protection both indoors and outdoors dropped from 29% to 16. %.
The trend to stop using face protection follows the population’s perception of mandatory: of the total of respondents, only 6% said that, in their city, the use of masks remains mandatory in closed and open places against 37% who said that usage is mandatory.
“Faced with a less severe pandemic scenario, with high vaccination coverage of our population and a reduction in cases, economic activities are returning to normal and the job market is starting to recover. But it is important that the population remains attentive to the rates of Covid-19 and, whenever necessary, maintain the necessary care to avoid a new wave, for all its impacts on society”, highlights the president of CNI, Robson Braga de Andrade.
voluntary membership
Even though it is not mandatory, in public transport, the majority, 55%, continue to use protective equipment. Good adherence was also recorded in supermarkets, where 49% of respondents said they use the accessory.
Family
When the focus is on where people wear masks least, 75% of respondents said they dispense with protection when meeting friends and relatives.
The use is also dispensed in shopping spaces, such as high street (34%) and shopping centers (33%). In the work environment, 31% continue to use them.
CNI conducts research on the situation of the Covid-19 pandemic in Brazil and the behavior of the population since the beginning of 2020. For the research released today, the interviews were carried out from July 23 to 26.
The FSB Institute heard in person 2,008 citizens, in the 27 units of the federation. The margin of error is plus or minus 2 percentage points.
