This Monday (30), it rose to 91 the number of deaths caused by the heavy rains that hit the state of Pernambuco in recent days.
According to the Integrated Center for Regional Command and Control (CICCR) in Pernambuco, the authorities are looking for 26 missing.
In addition, the Civil Defense reiterated the warning of high risk of landslides in the most affected areas, and reported that more than five thousand people are homeless.
“Despite the reduction in volume, rainfall should continue, with moderate intensity, until next Friday (3)”, informed the Civil Defense, based on information from the Pernambuco Water and Climate Agency (Apac).
The authorities are working on seven landslide points in Greater Recife: Zumbi do Pacheco and Curado IV (Jaboatão dos Guararapes); Areeiro (Camaragibe); Monte Verde/Ibura, Barro and Guabiraba (Recife) and Paratibe (Paulista).
According to the Civil Defense, the highest accumulated rainfall in the last 24 hours was recorded in Olinda (60 mm), Paulista (57 mm), Itapissuma (53 mm) and Recife (52 mm).
“The river situation, however, remains stable. The level of accumulation at the monitored points, on which warnings or flooding warnings were issued, have already dropped or stabilized, and there is no longer a need for a hydrological warning”, added the Civil Defense, in a note.
“We are working with full force, mobilizing available resources, seeking professionals from several Brazilian states with expertise in rescue in areas of landslides, as well as support for areas affected by land, water and air”, said Secretary of Social Defense, Humberto Freire.
