The death toll rose to 105 as a result of heavy rains that hit the city of Petrópolis, in the mountainous region of Rio de Janeiro. The State Civil Defense continues with the search in the region. The Civil Police received 134 records of disappearances until this Thursday (17).
According to the Civil Defense Department, 323 landslides and 399 occurrences were also recorded..
The municipality remains in a crisis stage and the prefecture asks the population to avoid leaving home. The weather forecast for this Thursday indicates the possibility of new storms.
Last Tuesday, in just six hours it rained 260 millimeters. The accumulated was higher than expected for the month of February.
With the accumulation of mud and garbage dragged by the waters, several points of the Center have blocked roads. The orientation is that people from other regions avoid the city. Classes on the public network have been suspended.
To assist people who live in risk areas and have had to leave their homes, support points were opened.
Until this Thursday morning, 705 people needed to be referred to the 33 points set up in public schools.
In these places, the population receives support from social workers, health professionals, education, community agents, in addition to the Civil Defense itself.
So far, in the locality known as Morro da Oficina, in Alto da Serra, it is estimated that 40 houses are buried. Rescues are concentrated in the region. There are also records of damage in other regions such as 24 de Maio, Caxambu, Sargento Boening, Moinho Preto, Vila Felipe, Vila Militar and Uruguay, Washington Luiz and Coronel Veiga streets.

500 firefighters and military agents participate in the operations at 44 points, 200 civil police officers and 210 military police officers, in addition to 9 helicopters and 190 vehicles.
To help the victims, firefighters also opened a field hospital with ten beds.
