Blockchain analytics company Glassnode has reported that the number of addresses on the Bitcoin network with a non-zero balance has reached an all-time high of 40,276,163.
By data analysts, the mark of 40 million addresses with balances in BTC was overcome at the beginning of the month, but today a new record was set. At the same time, the chart presented by Glassnode shows that the indicator has accelerated growth in the last couple of months.
After a sharp increase and the same sharp drop in the number of wallets with a non-zero balance in BTC in 2018, the indicator is growing quite steadily. In mid-2021, some stagnation in the number of wallets was recorded, but in recent months, growth has accelerated again.
Interestingly, 817,445 wallets hold at least 1 BTC. Analysts also noted a significant increase in the number of bitcoins that are stored on wallets without movement from 3 to 5 years. Now the number of such inactive BTC exceeds 2.8 million.
Earlier, Glassnode analysts reported that at the moment, bitcoins are sold mainly by short-term investors, while hodlers continue to hold reserves of the first cryptocurrency.
