The official Your Phone app for connecting smartphone and PC has become completely different

Microsoft has announced Phone Link, an updated version of the Your Phone program that allows you to manage your smartphone in the Windows operating system. In addition to rebranding, the developers have changed the interface, but the functionality has remained the same. Users can still receive and send messages, mirror a mobile device, launch apps, and more. Unfortunately, Phone Link never received iPhone support. The Your Phone Companion mobile app has also changed its name to Link to Windows.

The software giant said that with the next Windows 11 update due out this fall, the system will prompt users to set up Phone Link using a QR code. It is not entirely clear what exactly this means, since the Your Phone application has long been integrated into OOBE – a set of steps or scripts during the first installation of the system that are recommended to the user.

Microsoft has redesigned Your Phone specifically for Windows 11, which means rounded corners, new tabbed navigation, new animations, icons, colors and more, and installing the app just got easier. Overall, Phone Link is quite in line with the general style of Windows 11.

Previously, Microsoft has already integrated its service on Samsung smartphones and Surface Duo. Now the company has partnered with HONOR, so the Magic V, Magic 4 and Magic 3 series of smartphones will have built-in mobile device pairing capabilities in the first phase. More to come.
