The only photo of Mount Everest taken by an astronaut

But an impressive photo of Mount Everest was released by the US Space Agency (NASA). The image was taken by an astronaut when International Space Station (ISS) was located almost vertically above the highest mountain on Earth.

The famous peak, at an altitude of about 8,848 meters above sea level, is located on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, an area also known as “The Roof of the World”, according to the Athens News Agency. Mount Everest continues to grow at a rate of about one centimeter each year, as the planet’s crust gradually rises below the mountain due to the convergence of the Indian and Eurasian tectonic plates.

His impressive photo Everest from such an unusual point of view was shot with a Nikon D5 digital camera and then improved by NASA.
