The operational agreement was signed for the implementation of the ‘Smart Manufacturing’ Action

An operational agreement for the implementation of the “Smart Manufacturing” Action, within the framework of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, was signed today by the Minister of Development and Investments, Adonis Georgiadis, the Secretary General of Industry, Themis Eftychidou, the President of the Hellenic Chamber of Commerce, Konstantinos Kollias and the President of the Technical Chamber of Greece, George Stasinos.

The Smart Manufacturing action provides funding of 73 million euros to very small, small and medium-sized enterprises in the manufacturing and industrial sectors in general in order to proceed with investments in new technologies for their digital transformation and their adaptation to the imperatives of the 4th Industrial Revolution (Industry 4.0).

In particular, the financing concerns investment projects based on three (3) pillars:
1. Artificial intelligence and big data analysis
2. Smart manufacturing technologies, and
3. Robotics and automation

The total budget of 73 million euros is distributed by 70% to very small and small businesses and by 30% to medium ones, and investment projects with a budget of 250 thousand to 6 million euros are financed.

“Today, we formally activate the synergy of the Ministry of Development and Investments and the General Secretariat of Industry with the Economic Chamber of Greece and the Technical Chamber of Greece for the implementation of the ‘Smart Manufacturing’ Action”, said the Minister of Development and Investments, Adonis Georgiadis and added:

“I am particularly happy that the cooperation with the two agencies, which I personally sought, is being implemented and I am sure that with the coordination of the General Secretariat of Industry, they will be worthy of my trust with the thorough and successful implementation of another emblematic Action of our Ministry which also aims to strengthen the productivity, competitiveness and resilience of the Greek economy and specifically industry. for their work to date in shaping the Action and to wish them strength and success in its implementation”.

For her part, the General Secretary of Industry, Themis Eftychidou, pointed out: “We are very pleased to sign today the operational agreement between the Ministry of Development and Investments and the General Secretariat of Industry with the Economic Chamber of Greece and the Technical Chamber of Greece for the implementation of the Action” Smart Manufacturing”. The collaboration of the 3 entities guarantees both the smooth implementation of the action and its quality in terms of its results, given the high training and experience of the executives of each entity. Our goal is to support the industrial transition through the digitization of business and production functions, as well as digital infrastructures, to increase the competitiveness of businesses, create more and better jobs, as well as strengthen the resilience of Greek industry. We are at the disposal of all agencies and businesses, so that they support in the pros passion to transform and strengthen their businesses”.

“Within the intensely competitive international environment, in which all Greek businesses, regardless of size, are called upon to operate and adapt, the contribution of community funds is more than important,” noted the president of the Greek Chamber of Commerce, Konstantinos Kollias, and added: ” The Hellenic Chamber of Commerce also contributes in this direction, through its participation in this action, which aims to strengthen the very small, small and medium enterprises of the Greek industrial ecosystem, through the evaluation of the proposals, the certification control of the projects and of all the support in this action, which we have undertaken together with the General Secretariat of Industry and the TEE, we are committed to the most reliable and fastest possible completion of the relevant procedures, in order to achieve the goals of improving the competitiveness of Greek industry through its digital transition and promotion of the Industry 4.0 transformation in Greece. We sincerely thank the Minister of Development and Investments, Adonis Georgiadis, for the trust he shows in OEE”.

Finally, the president of the Technical Chamber of Greece, Giorgos Stasinos emphasized: “The challenges for Greek small and medium-sized enterprises in a rapidly changing world are very great, especially in the manufacturing sector. Greek industry and craft, its small and large factories country, have for decades been the productive core of development. With the “Smart Manufacturing” action and resources from the Recovery and Resilience Fund, the State provides incentives for the real production modernization and the improvement of the competitiveness of every Greek manufacturing company. Now is the time our production to undergo a green and digital transformation that will give it resources for development and prosperity. I want to warmly thank the Ministry of Development and Investments and in particular the Minister Adonis Georgiadis not only for the good cooperation but also for the practical recognition of the role of the Technician Chamber of Greece both in the major reforms it has the country needs it at a strategic level as well as in the programs, projects and actions that lead small and medium enterprises, freelancers and scientists and entrepreneurship in general to a better future.
