Don’t ask me how, because I absolutely can’t tell, but every first day of the year I question the Oracle. She’s a hasty and good-natured Oracle, but her prophecies and advice – I don’t know how she does it, after all it’s her job – are infallible. I often forget them on the way or I’m not able to follow them, but every time I remember them I have to admit that they were really good and that I should have taken them seriously. For several New Years, however, the Oracle has always said the same things, so this year I decided to ask not for me, who by now more or less manages, but for all the girls (and women who feel like girls) undecided about the priorities to give to their lives.
I was afraid that the Oracle would answer: «Forget it!», instead I caught a glimpse of a pleased half smile. And here’s how she responded: “It’s simple. First, they must be economically independent. I will never get tired of repeating it. We must not depend on anyone: families of origin, husbands, relatives. Let them study and, as soon as they can, support themselves. Second thing: they have to do a job they like, whatever it is. Third: they must not sacrifice themselves for the family, neither that of origin nor others. If they don’t have a family they don’t sacrifice themselves in general.
I say this with full knowledge of the facts because we Oracles and above all we Oracles hate bowels, sacrificial victims and all that stuff there. We see truth in the sky, in the flight of birds and in the shape of the clouds. And if the sky is gray and empty, we ask colleagues in Iceland or the Azores for help.
By the way: that they cultivate their love for all living beings, including plants and animals. But let them also cultivate their emotional independence: the more independent they are, the more they will be loved. If they follow this advice, they can’t go wrong, but if they make a mistake, and you, my beauty, know something about it, sooner or later they’ll learn».
