The other side of Thessaloniki: The industrial buildings that ‘wither’ and come out under the hammer

The electronic auction platform includes a long list of industries and business assets, located in the greater Thessaloniki area and in Central Macedonia in general.

“Victims” of the Greek debt crisis of the last decade, which created an “inhospitable” environment for business, the northern Helladic companies that have been in the eye of the storm in recent years, are not few while some of them had to show a long course and tradition, which, however, has led to the adventure of auctions.

One such example is Texapret, which for more than a century was active in the chemical processing of textiles while it was also listed on the Greek stock exchange.

However, at the end of 2009 the management of the dyehouse, formed by members of the Carasso family, decided to put an end to the productive activity of the industry and focus on other activities, including the development of real estate.

This was the turning point for one of the most famous dyehouses-finishes not only in Thessaloniki but in the whole country.

On April 13, Texapret industrial facilities in Kalochori, Thessaloniki, are scheduled to go under the hammer once again, with the first offer price now amounting to 3.25 million euros, reduced to 65% of the 5 million euros set in previous auction attempts, which were declared barren.

It is a plot of land, which extends over an area of ​​64 acres, in which industrial facilities of 27,500 sq.m. have been constructed, which were expanded and strengthened with various areas from 1972 to 1998.

It should be noted that the company, which remains active, had submitted a request two years ago asking for its solution to be ordered, which, however, was rejected by the Single Member Court of First Instance of Thessaloniki.

The adventure of the auction continues for the Rice Mills of Macedonia-Mystakidis Bros, as the factory of the companies comes under the hammer again on April 13 with the first offer price at 4.4 million euros and I hastened the dovalue.

The auction concerns a plot of land of 14 acres in Kalochori, Thessaloniki, in which facilities for the processing and storage of rice have been erected.

It should be noted that in 2018, with a decision of the Multi-Member Court of First Instance of Thessaloniki, the solution of the agreement reached in 2012 and ratified in 2013 between the company and its creditors was announced, while the company remains active to this day.

The facilities in Sindos

On May 4, two separate auctions are expected to take place, which relate to assets of the Anonymous Construction Building as the third owner of the real estate of the company Ch. Garyfallou.

The first property includes a plot of 29,880 sq.m., which is located within the industrial area of ​​Sindos in Thessaloniki and faces an asphalt road and a railway line for loading and unloading goods.

In this plot there is a modern industrial building, which consists of: ground floor industrial building of 8,339.83 sq.m. with basement and auxiliary space as well as ground floor offices of 354.37 sq.m. and first floor offices of surface 271, 26 sq.m.

The building was erected with a building permit in 2003 while the starting price has been set at 4.145 million euros and Eurobank is in a hurry.

The second auction concerns a property located in Sindos and more specifically includes a single plot of land, with a total area of ​​17,592.94 sq.m., which essentially consists of two adjacent and adjacent plots.

Two buildings have been gradually erected in the single area, which include industrial facilities, offices and storage areas, while the first offer price has been set at 2.83 million euros.

In the industrial area of ​​Sindos is the craft building of Trofotechniki, for which an auction has been launched for April 6 with a starting price of 2.12 million euros while Intrum Hellas is in a hurry.

This is a plot of land with a total area of ​​8 acres in which, among others, an industrial building of 4,795.20 sq.m. has been erected. which is divided into production, storage, refrigerators and offices.

On the same date, an auction is scheduled for another industrial building, which belongs to ELVITYL – Hellenic Industrial and Commercial Company of Telecommunication Material and which is located in Oreokastro, Thessaloniki.

With the first bid price amounting to 1,666 million euros, the auction concerns a plot of 15,271 sq.m. in which industrial facilities have been erected.

The above industries are just a few examples of companies located in the greater Thessaloniki area and are facing the electronic auction while the list becomes even longer if it is extended to neighboring areas.
