Madame Walberg’s story has nothing true. “I was surrounded by a crowd of people and a familiar scent caught my attention. My first instinct was to look for the person who wore it. It made me wonder how the life of a person with a developed sense of smell could be compared to that of a normal person and how this ability could affect his social relationships, his emotions or his character. All of this led me to create a character and a challenge for writing and directing: capturing the smells on the screen.
That’s how Anne Walberg was born, ”explained Grégory Magne, director of a film, The perfumes of Madame Walberg, apt to bring back to the cinema the romanticism that he missed so much, the simplicity and, at the same time, the extraordinary complication of human relationships.
The comedy, of which you can find the preview trailer above, is the story of a woman, a “nose” as, with a touch of snobbery, she usually defines herself. Anne Walberg (Emmanuelle Devos) is the finest perfume creator, responsible for some iconic fragrances, Christian Dior’s J’Adore. She is a sorceress, at times, capable of making a “note” of every odor, and of finding it again in a thousand and more. Although impeccable in her work, Anne Walberg has never managed to develop in private the same meticulousness that the professional has given her the opportunity to find. Thus, when Guillaume Favre, il Grégory Montel di Call my agent!, he introduces himself to her as a driver, Madame Walberg’s first reaction is despotic. He would like to command it, manage its habits and vices. He would like it to be tame, like a perfume. But the surly man, struggling with a complex divorce, will prove to be the engine of a profound change, which at the cinema it will be told starting next June 10th, distributed by Satine Film.
