The plane that crashed with Marília Mendonça doesn’t have a black box, says Cenipa

The Center for Investigation and Prevention of Aeronautical Accidents (Cenipa) stated, on Saturday afternoon (6), that the plane that crashed with the singer Marília Mendonça and four other passengers in Minas Gerais does not have a black box.

According to the agency, only one geolocator was found in the aircraft that can be used to compare the flight plan. The device is one of the pieces of evidence to understand the causes of the accident that occurred last Friday (5).

Cenipa stated that all evidence and personal items were removed from the aircraft and that experts will no longer enter the plane. The agency waits for the removal of the debris for another part of the expertise to take place.

The aircraft should be removed from the site this Saturday and taken to the airport where it should have landed, two kilometers from the accident site.

The accident

The accident happened in Piedade de Caratinga, in Vale do Rio Doce, in the west of Minas Gerais. The plane crashed at a distance of three kilometers from the airport in Caratinga, the city where the singer would perform.

The Brazilian Air Force (FAB) and the Civil Police of Minas Gerais are investigating the accident.
