The poet and university student Michalis Pieris died

He died poet and university teacher Michalis Pieris born in 1952 in Eftagonia, Cyprus.

According to APE BPE, he studied literature and theater in Thessaloniki and Sydney and published several literary and critical studies.

Issued three collections of poetry in the editorial series of Planodion magazine and a theatrical adaptation of the medieval Chronicle of Cyprus by Leontios Macheiras, which he taught at University of Cyprus. He published (and under the literary pseudonym Michalis Eftagonitis) poems and short stories in Cypriot magazines.

His poetry has been translated into English, Italian, Catalan, Russian and Turkish and has been honored with distinctions in foreign countries.

He lived for long periods in Limassol, τη Thessaloniki, in the Sydney, in Athena, in the Rethimno, in Melbourne and traveled to many countries. Since 1993 he has been permanently settled in Nicosia, teaching poetry and theater at the University of Cyprus.
