The political leaders of Turkey and the mayors of Ankara and Istanbul celebrated ‘Attila’

The unity of Turkey’s foreign policy regardless of who is in the government is confirmed once again, on the occasion of the anniversary of Turkey’s invasion of Cyprus.

Except for the Turkish president and his followers, who celebrated the Turkish attackthe Turkish political scene rallied to their side with celebratory statements from all political leaders, as well as the mayors of Ankara and Istanbul, Mansour Yavas and Ekrem Imamoglu.

The president of the official opposition Keaml Kilicdaroglu in his post says: “I celebrate the anniversary of the ‘Peace Operation’ in Cyprus, one of the most important days of the struggle for existence for the ‘T/K’, and the ‘Peace and Freedom Day’ of ‘TDBK’ on July 20, and I remember our martyrs and veterans who have passed into eternity by God’s mercy and our living veterans. I respectfully honor the then P/T, my President Bulent Ecevit, the then Deputy Prime Minister Nejmedin Erbakan and the first President of the ‘TRBK’, Rauf Dektas, who fought to eliminate the oppression suffered by the ‘Turkish Cypriots’ and to bring peace to the island”.

Turkey’s former Foreign Minister and now Erdogan’s opponent, Ahmet Davutoglu, in his own post notes: “Happy July 20th ‘Peace and Freedom Day’. On the 48th anniversary of the ‘Peace Operation’ in Cyprus that protected our national existence on the island, I remember our martyrs with God’s mercy and our veterans with gratitude.”

The president of the far-right nationalist party, Meral Aksener said: “On the anniversary of the ‘Peace Operation’ in Cyprus, in which we all said ‘We exist’! Against those who tried to erase the name of the Turk, I remember with gratitude our holy martyrs who sacrificed their lives for our newborn homeland and our veterans. As always, Cyprus is Turkish, it will remain Turkish!”.

The mayor of Istanbul, Ekrem Imamoglou wrote: “On the 48th anniversary of the ‘Peace Operation’ in Cyprus, I remember with the mercy of God our beloved martyrs and express my respect and gratitude to our veterans. We will always remember with full respect and gratitude those who they fought for Cyprus and the ‘T/K'”.

The mayor of Ankara, Mansour Yavas wrote: “On the anniversary of the ‘Peace Operation’ in Cyprus, I commemorate our martyrs with God’s mercy, our veterans with gratitude, and celebrate the Day of Peace and Freedom of the ‘TRNC’.”
