The popularity of the Russian alternative to Word / Excel from “MyOffice” has grown 18 times after the forced preinstallation

In April 2021, a law came into force on the mandatory pre-installation of Russian software in electronics sold in the country, after which the popularity of domestic office suites from MyOffice for individuals (desktop MyOffice Standard. Home version and mobile MyOffice Documents) has grown 18 times. This was announced by the developers in their official blog.

An 18-fold increase in the number of installations concerns the MyOffice Documents mobile applications. According to information from app stores, in 2020, the number of daily downloads of the utility did not exceed 1,500 people, in the first month of the pre-installation law, this figure rose to 7,000, and in early October it reached 28,000 installations per day. And the total number of downloads of the desktop office suite, which only launched in April, has already reached 330,000.

“The pre-installation program allows buyers of smartphones, tablets and laptops to immediately get acquainted with the convenient free document editors MyOffice. And we see that the owners of new devices have a positive perception of our products. So, for example, the number of monthly active users (MAU) of the mobile application “MyOffice Documents” for six months has been growing by an average of 25% per month. We also assess positively the growth dynamics of the audience of “MyOffice Standard. Home version “. We first released this product in April 2021, and it has already been installed on a significant share of laptops and PCs sold during this period in Russia, ”said Petr Scheglov, Director of Product Marketing at MyOffice.

Office suite “MyOffice” allows you to work with text files and tables, including formats from Word and Excel. The vast majority of users (92%) live in Russia, but the software solution is available for citizens of 67 countries. For example, at the beginning of the summer it became known that “MyOffice” would be preinstalled in all schools in Guinea – the local government noted security and multiplatformity in the Russian development.
