Czech President Petr Pavel appointed the new Minister of Justice after the resignation of the previous one, Pavel Blazhek, who is suspected of accepting the Bitcoin donation from the convicted criminal.

The scandal erupted in March, after it became known that the Ministry of Justice of the Czech Republic agreed to the donation of 468 bitcoins, then sold at auction for 1 billion Czech crowns (about $ 46 million). It is assumed that the donor could be Tomash Yirzhikovsky (Tomáš Jiikovskutch), convicted in 2017 for drug trafficking and other crimes associated with the Sheep MarketPlace darkn platform.

The legality of the origin of bitcoins caused fear among law enforcement agencies. The National Center for Combating Organized Crime began an official investigation, and the opposition accused the resignation of the Minister of Justice of trying to launder criminal proceeds.

The Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, Peter Fiala) supported the voluntary resignation of Blazhek, and the new Minister of Justice Eva Decroix said that she would initiate an independent investigation of the actions of the ministry to restore confidence and exclude suspicions of the legalization of criminal income.

The candidacy of the new minister should consider and approve or reject the Czech parliament within 30 days.

Earlier, a member of the Board of the National Bank of the Czech Republic, Jan Kubicek, announced the high risks of creating Gosrerrev bitcoins due to uncertainty with the regulation of cryptocurrencies and strong volatility of the cryptorrhist.
