The president of the United States, Donald Trump, said on Saturday that the United States will impose a 30% tariff to the goods of the European Union (EU) and Mexico that will enter into force on August 1, according to Bloomberg.
Trump announced it in two letters to the president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, and the president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, which she published on her social network Truth Social.
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said he will work in close collaboration with the French president Emmanuel Macron and Von der Leyen in the coming weeks to resolve the growing commercial dispute with the United States.
