The price of used smartphones iPhone 12 is growing: six months later they cost more than a month after release

It has long been known that iPhones are getting cheaper at a slower rate than Android smartphones. The iPhone 12 series is no exception, as the latest research from SellCell showed.

According to analyst firm Counterpoint Research, the iPhone 12 series reached 100 million unit sales in just seven months. The iPhone 11 series took two months longer to break that mark. The iPhone 12, which is also Apple’s first lineup with 5G support, accounted for 63% of all iPhone sales during the quarter ending June 2021.

In the first six months, the iPhone 12 series fell in price in the secondary market by an average of 34.5%. Over the same period, the iPhone 11 family has lost about 44% of its value. Both the iPhone 11 and iPhone 12 fell the most in the first month, after which the resale value began to stabilize. However, in the case of the iPhone 12, the price chart is on an upward trajectory.

For comparison: the iPhone 11 Pro Max with 512 GB memory, which at the time of launch was priced at $ 1,449, dropped in price to $ 850 a month later, and six months later it cost about $ 830. The 256GB iPhone 11, which cost $ 849 at launch, dropped to $ 580 a month later, and dropped to $ 504 six months later. The Samsung Galaxy S21 line, released at the end of January, dropped in price by 50% in just the first three months.
