The Prime Minister of France Jean Castex was positive in Covid-19. A few hours earlier, he had entered self-isolation, after his 11-year-old daughter was also diagnosed positive in the disease.
Castex was in Brussels this morning, where he met with his Belgian counterpart, Alexander de Croix. He was scheduled to meet this afternoon in Matinion with elected representatives of Guadeloupe to discuss the health situation in their region, along with Interior Ministers Geral Darmanen, Overseas Territories Sebastian Lecorny and Health Minister Olivier Vera. However, returning from Brussels, he learned that his daughter was ill and underwent a test, which was positive according to the Athens News Agency.
This is not the first time that the French Prime Minister has been isolated because he had contact with a Covid-19 case, but this is the first time he has been diagnosed with a positive case. He isolated himself in June when his wife tested positive. December 2020 was a “close contact” between President Emanuel Macron and, a few months earlier, Christian Pridom, the president of the Round France, when they got sick from Covid-19.
Castex will remain in solitary confinement for 10 days, but will continue to work.
