Project Future Junior was completed, with the awards of the groups of high school students from schools all over Greece, who were distinguished in the elaboration of innovative e-commerce projects, which were inspired by the 17 goals of the UN Sustainable Development.

Piraeus Bank’s corporate responsibility program was aimed at young people aged 14 to 17 and gave them the opportunity to develop the skills of tomorrow, to become familiar with the concepts and practices of modern business and to broaden their horizons regarding career options in modern areas of employment, in collaboration with Junior Achievement Greece.

Piraeus Bank CEO Christos Megalou, during the awards ceremony, noted that the program expands the successful Project Future, which the Bank implements from 2018 for new graduates entering the labor market. “With Project Future Junior, we addressed the students of Gymnasium and Lyceum, with the aim of getting acquainted with the basic concepts of economics and business, to apply them in practice and to enrich their choices regarding their future career”, pointed out Mr. While referring to the action “Profession has no Gender” which is part of the program of the EQUALL program of the Bank, which is also addressed to students of public Gymnasiums and Lyceums throughout Greece, in order to motivate them to follow the academic and professional course they desire, regardless of their gender.

Referring to the goal of the program, the President of Junior Achievement Greece Markos Veremis noted that one of the biggest problems of our country and the whole western world is the lack of people with digital skills. “The only way to deal with the great problems of the planet in the coming years is for young children, from a very early age, to acquire these missing skills, not only from their peers but also from older professionals,” said Mr. Veremis .

The Project Future Junior was attended by 830 students from 261 public schools (most of them from the region), 79 teachers, 43 mentors and 50 student groups. The students from the 3rd Gymnasium to the 2nd Lyceum, participated as members of their school team or individually, and watched, through an electronic platform, the digital program that included educational material, specially designed for their age, in three thematic pillars: Project Management, Digital Marketing, E-Commerce.

After the completion of the program, groups of students, developed, with the support of teachers and mentors, e-commerce projects, based on an innovative business idea that emerged through the use of knowledge gained in all three areas, inspired by the 17 goals UN Sustainable Development.

The first prize in the student competition was awarded to the VisionGivers team for the application “Eyescan” which is an electronic daily living aid for visually impaired people. The VisionGivers team consisted of students from the Experimental High School of the University of Macedonia, the 1st General High School of Agios Athanasios of Thessaloniki and the Day High School of Tsotyli.

The second prize was awarded to Green Futurists, for creating a “go green” credit card with a reciprocal character, for the purchase of environmentally friendly products and services. The team collaborated with students from the Experimental High School of the University of Thessaloniki, the 8th GEL Thessaloniki, the General High School of Psychiko, the Arsakeio Tositsio Ekali and the 3rd General High School of Kifissia.

The third prize was received by the Local Guides team from the 3rd EPAL Civitanideiou for the creation of the TravelUnique digital platform that offers the ideal trip for the visitor, revealing specific options.

Special Scope of Sustainable Urban Development was given to the Three Scooters by the schools 1st GEL Serres, 1st High School of Glyfada, 1st High School of Gerakas, a team that designed a complete product for moving through the cities in a financially sustainable and environmentally friendly way.

The LAVRIUM team (1st GEL of Serres, Model High School of the Evangelical School of Smyrna, 1st High School of Byron, Music School of Ptolemaida) received a Special Award for Inter-School Cooperation as it collaborated in the most efficient way to bring students, even from a distance, close to school. .

A Special Award of Social Solidarity was awarded to the project WomanAxIZO prepared by GEL Neos Marmaras and Deskeio General Lyceum of Parga and presented the need for training and financing of women entrepreneurial ideas, proposing solutions aimed at gender equality.

Special Circular Economy Award was given to the 1st EPAL Kiato with the team Green Marketeers who managed with its idea to show the way for the best possible utilization of fabrics of the fashion industry and their proper reuse.

The NATIONS project of the team from the 3rd High School of Kalymnos, the Petritsio High School of Lixouri and the 1st Experimental High School of Samos received a Special Award for the Utilization of Local Resources. new product.

Piraeus Bank collaborated for Project Future Junior with Junior Achievement Greece (JA Greece), a non-profit organization, member of the global organization of education and entrepreneurship Junior Achievement Worldwide that implements the educational programs of the organization in Greece.

The purpose of JA Greece is to support the Greek educational community in the implementation of programs that promote innovative thinking, entrepreneurship and the practical application of the basic concepts of economics, in a creative and experiential way for students.
