The public debt reached 357.665 billion euros in the first quarter of this year compared to 344.248 billion euros in the first quarter of 2021.
This results from the quarterly non-financial accounts of the General Government published by ELSTAT.
According also to which:
– The revenues of the General Government amounted to 18.982 billion euros against 16.340 billion euros last year. Income and property taxes were €2.947 billion (15.5% of total revenue) from €2.743 billion (16.8% of total revenue) in the first quarter of 2021. Social contributions stood at €6.558 billion. EUR (34.5% of total revenue) compared to EUR 6.066 billion (37.1% of total revenue) last year.
– The total expenditure of the General Government amounted to 21.907 billion euros from 23.405 billion euros in the first quarter of last year. Primary expenditure was €20.924 billion (95.5% of total expenditure) from €22.316 billion (95.3% of total expenditure). Wages of dependent labor stood at €5.495 billion (25.1% of total expenditure) from €5.426 billion (23.2% of total expenditure). Social benefits amounted to €9.926 billion (45.3% of total expenditure) against €9.880 billion (42.2% of total expenditure). Finally, subsidies were €531 million (2.4% of total spending) from €1.676 billion (7.2% of total spending) in Q1 2021.
