The pump.fun platform celebrated its anniversary

The platform for creating memecoins on the Solana network pump.fun was launched exactly a year ago. stated its co-founder under the pseudonym alon. During this period, the site’s profit in the form of commissions received amounted to more than $437 million.

According to alon, he and his colleagues searched for themselves for a long time, trying their hand at different areas, until they discovered the Solana ecosystem. However, upon further analysis, they realized that it was moving along a “dangerous trajectory”, since most of the presales turned out to be scams.

“We saw an opportunity to create a safer, fairer and more fun system. We truly believed that memcoins represented the next big growth opportunity for cryptocurrencies because they provide a simple and fun experience for users and allow any creator to truly own their success in an increasingly hostile creator economy. This is how pump fun was born,” said alon.

According to him, the subsequent explosive growth of the site was a real surprise. The project team quickly expanded.

During this period, more than 6 million tokens were launched, the total capitalization of which is over $5 billion, noted alon. However, according to him, this path “was not without setbacks.”

In particular, he noted the disabling of the broadcast function on the platform. This happened after numerous complaints from users that prohibited content was being promoted through pump.fun.

Moreover, the site has ceased to specialize only in memcoins, noted alon. More serious projects are also being launched on it, using the potential to attract liquidity, says the co-founder of the project.

Note that the total number of tokens launched on pump.fun has indeed exceeded 6.2 million, according to Dune Analytics. At the same time, the site’s total revenue from collected commissions reached $437.2 million.

However, this success was overshadowed by criticism in the community. From time to time, various publications appear on the topic that the majority of memcoins on the site were not even able to enter the Raydium exchange, having overcome the capitalization threshold.

In addition, the American law firm Burwick announced its intention to file a class action lawsuit against pump.fun.
