The Pupa and the Nerdy Show: the missed opportunity of Barbara D’Urso

When did we know that Barbara D’Urso would have moved on to the prime time of Italia 1 after years of militancy at Canale 5 – a garrison which it maintains thanks to a single program compared to the three it conducted last season – we did not think, like many, of a relegation, but of an opportunity to restart. After having dedicated herself for years to that mix between information and entertainment that has reached a point of no return with live rosary, the rudeness of the guests in connection, the misplaced laughter of the spheres and the “greet me a soreta” pronounced left and right, needed to reset everything, abandon the grotesque tones that have so indignant the Net and lay new foundations, more marked by the vein of variety that, after all, D’Urso knows very well, having started from there and having made success in the 2000s thanks to creatures how The Show of Records and reality shows like the Big Brother And The farm.

The Pupa and the Nerdy Show – updated version of the docu-reality formula conducted in the last two years by Paolo Ruffini and Matteo Pucci – In this sense, it could have been the right opportunity for Barbara to get out of a character and experience something new, and a little sorry that all the initial inputs were sacrificed for the recycling of the usual faces and the usual register, as if the bandwagon had simply moved from 5 to 6 without adding anything new. The first episode of The Pupa and the Nerdy Showin fact, more than in lightness, dig into the trash with your bare hands, like Rosso Malpelo at the moment of the discovery of his father’s inanimate body, without asking himself the problem of inserting a flicker, a spring, anything able to mix up the cards and to convince us that the authors, in this round, have seriously worked to update a format who, in 2022, certainly needed an extra makeover, going beyond the messy ballets of the geeks and the vulgar and vulgar twerking of the babes.

Instead of taking a step back – let’s think of Mara Venier who, before returning to Rai as a winner, passed from the role of columnist toIsland and juror a You Yes Que Valesbut also to Simona Ventura who, before returning to management, agreed to land in Honduras as a competitor -, Barbara D’Urso showed up in front of the camera in a suit branded with her initials which seemed, in addition to a way to make it clear who is in charge, also a compensation to the unfortunate joke of Signorini who, the night before, had praised her “for the courage” to go to Italy 1. A legacy that seems straight out of a Wilder comedy, one of those destined for divas who live according to their character, to whom they will remain devoted forever. Barbara D’Urso is a capable professionalwould have all the potential to prove himself, and it is a real shame that he did not take advantage of this move to reconsider.
