The ranking we were waiting for has arrived: here are the best ice creams in Italy 2022. It is the one established by Ice Cream Festival World Ranking – world category ranking for individual gelato makers promoted by Gelato Festival World Masters, Carpigiani and Sigep Italian Exhibition Group.
The result? According to the scores updated to 2022, the king of ice cream is Marco Venturino of the “I Giardini di Marzo” ice cream parlor in Varazze (Savona) the best ice cream maker of 2022who wins with 246 points and 3 crowns.
The scoring system is not made simple: it takes into account the participation in competitions and selections, from 2011 to today, and the results obtained in all these 11 years of competitions who examined more than 5,000 ice cream makers evaluated by hundreds of experts. The ice cream parlors that have reached the minimum score to enter the ranking in 2022 are 1098.
But who are the other winners? Eugenio Morrone of the “Il Cannolo Siciliano” ice cream parlor in Rome, winner of 2020 passes by right into the “Hall of Fame” of Gelato Festival World Ranking: he will no longer participate in the next competitions as a competitor but will become one of the qualified judges. In second place in the standings, with 225 points, we find the rookie Ádám Fazekas from the Fazekas Cukrászda ice cream shop in BudapestHungary, winner of Gelato Festival World Masters in 2021 when in December he took first place with «Pistachio Fruit», Best Ice Cream Taste in the World.
In third place with 215 points Giovanna Bonazzi from “La Parona del Gelato” in Parona (Verona) affectionate competitor of the latest editions of Gelato Festival who has transformed his winning past in mountain biking, with 2 world titles behind him as a professional, conquering another podium in the world of ice cream.
