The record hot week of the Lucifer anticyclone, Italy over 40 degrees

Only the North West is saved. For the rest of Italy this is the week of hottest summer. From Wednesday a heat wave will affect the whole peninsula. Temperatures are also expected between 47-48 degrees in the South and on the major islands. There are, according to the daily bulletin on heat waves of the Ministry of Health, 8 cities with red stickers on Wednesday (there are 4 already on Tuesday) and 13 orange ones.

Cities with a vignette rosso they are Bari, Campobasso, Rieti, Frosinone, Latina, Palermo and Perugia.

The red dot indicates weather conditions that can have adverse health effects for several days, that one Orange indicates the meteorological conditions that can have negative effects on the health of the population, in particular in certain population groups. The orange cities are Bologna, Bolzano, Brescia, Cagliari, Catania, Florence, Messina, Milan, Naples, Reggio Calabria, Trieste, Verona and Viterbo. The yellow dots indicate a state of pre-alert for heat waves, the green ones an absence of heat risk.

To cause this new wave of heat, the fourth of the summer, is the African anticyclone, called Lucifer. A very hot air mass is expanding over the central Mediterranean. The temperature maximum will be, especially for the South, with values ​​higher than 40 degrees with a point of even 45 in some areas. A decrease is expected in the second part of the week in the southern regions. Instead, it will become warmer in the North with highs above 35 degrees on the Po Valley and muggy even during the night. In general, the heat will last at least until mid-August.

The Ministry of Health invites you not to expose yourself to heat or to the sun from 11 to 18, not to frequent particularly busy areas and to avoid physical activity outdoors during the hottest hours. You have to drink a lot, non-alcohol and too cold drinks, pay attention to the preservation of medicines, follow a light diet, wear light, light clothing, made of natural fibers, use hats and sunglasses.
