iQOO launched its first smartphone based on the Snapdragon 855 SoC in March 2019. Fresh information provided by a Chinese analyst shows that iQOO will become an independent brand in the first half of 2022.
iQOO will no longer be tied to its parent brand Vivo and will directly report to Chinese BBK Electronics like Vivo and OPPO. The source added that in the coming year, the relationship between iQOO and Vivo will be similar to that of Realme and Oppo, which are also separate brands.
Vivo phones available in China come with pre-installed Android operating system based on OriginOS UI, while iQOO phones come with a modified version of OriginOS UI for iQOO. Probably, the user interface coming to iQOO phones next year will offer new possibilities.
The source also added that iQOO is preparing to launch the iQOO Z5x and a Neo-branded phone powered by a Snapdragon 888 SoC in October in China.
