A young British woman said to enjoy an evening at Jacuzzi with her friends, only the pleasure turned into a nightmare for her, ending up losing her leg.
25-year-old Lauren Briggs contracted meningitis in the hot tub and woke up the next day at a friend’s house in Essex and could not breathe.
In the January incident, her health deteriorated rapidly and she was taken to hospital, where she was diagnosed with meningococcal sepsis, a life-threatening contamination of blood, according to a report by The Sun.
The doctors managed to save her life, but she had to mutilate her left foot below the knee, but also the toes of her right foot.
“Whirlpools are full of bacteria, so that’s probably the reason,” says Briggs. Which remained for 48 hours in mechanical support.
Her mother, 58-year-old Tracey, said she could not recognize her when she saw her in the hospital because she was very swollen: “I thought I was taken to the wrong window.”
Lauren was discharged on April 30, but her infection changed her life. She worked as a secretary in a doctor’s office and can not return to her duties, as in addition to the adventures on her feet, she also had speech disorders.
