Bharat turned to begging since he grew up in poverty and has no formal education. But now he has the means to send his children to a convent school.
He spends about 10 to 12 hours every day begging, usually around the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus railway station and the Azad Maidan sports ground, which are considered prime begging locations.
His family runs a stationery shop and has pleaded with him to stop begging. Despite this, he insists on continuing his “profession”.
