Prime Video released this Saturday (8) new images from the 2nd season of “The Rings of Power” which arrives on the streaming service on August 29th. look above. The series is set in the same universe as “Lord of the Rings” .
In the new episodes, Sauron (Charlie Vickers) is back after being expelled by Galadriel (Morfydd Clark). Without an army or ally, the Dark Lord must rely on his own cunning to rebuild his strength and oversee the creation of the Rings of Power, which will allow him to bind all the peoples of Middle-earth to his sinister will.
Names like Robert Aramayo , Iasmael Cruz Córdova , Sophia Nomvete , Max Baldry and more make up the cast. The first season was released in 2022 and has eight episodes.
With plans to last five seasons, the production is already the most expensive series in history, with an estimated budget of more than US$1 billion. Like the original films, filming took place in New Zealand, whose natural landscape doubles as Middle Earth. Furthermore, the work involved a combined production design effort to recreate the magical realms and cutting-edge visual effects.
The script was written by the duo Patrick McKay and John D. Payne, who had previously worked on the remake of the franchise “Star Trek” .
