The rise in prices for smartphones in Russia in 2022 is predicted at the level of 15-17%

Analysts and retailers believe that the prices of smartphones in Russia next year may rise up to 17%. Izvestia was informed about this in Svyaznoy. According to experts, this year gadgets have increased in price by almost 30%, and this is due to the global shortage of components, as well as problems in the supply chain.

As for smartphones, their cost in Russia has grown by an average of 34%. These are mainly models of initial and intermediate levels. According to Svyaznoy, Apple products became the main driver of price growth, as well as components, for example, processors, which account for a fifth of the cost of finished devices. Other electronics, both budget and expensive models of gadgets, also rose in price.

If earlier the prices for old iPhone models decreased with the release of new Apple smartphones, now they are growing. According to Yandex.Market, from July to November 2021, the average price of the iPhone 11 (128 GB) in Russia increased by 8%, and the iPhone XR – by 8.5%. Even the budget model of the smartphone Redmi 9T from Xiaomi has risen in price by 13%.

Another reason for all this is logistical problems. The UN warns that a sharp increase in tariffs for container shipping may lead to higher prices for imported products. On average, by 10.6%. And this applies not only to electronics, but also to other goods.

Some experts are more optimistic. They believe that the rise in prices for computer technology will slow down or stop altogether in 2022, and prices for smartphones may begin to decline by the end of next year. But on condition that there will be no sharp jumps in exchange rates and other force majeure.
