This is actually quite an impressive clock rate, because many video cards of the RTX 30 line, even from the flagship segment with top-end chips, cannot even reach 2.0 GHz. True, which is quite expected, to overclock RTX 40 video cards to a frequency of 3.0 GHz, you need to have an impressive cooling system, since even at base frequencies the chip consumes a lot of energy and, accordingly, gets very hot – it’s not for nothing that all new products have such huge radiators .
And in order to provide gamers with a much-desired cooling system that will allow them to overclock the graphics core to frequencies above 3.0 GHz, EK, a well-known among enthusiasts, officially introduced its new water block called the EK-Quantum Vector² FE RTX 4090 to the world today, September 21. It , which is easy to guess from the name, is only suitable for installation on an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 Founders Edition video card, so video cards from partner companies are still overboard. Although, given the history of EK, waterblocks will be introduced for their PCB formats in the near future.
In a press release from EK, they emphasize that thanks to their water block, a gamer will be able to overclock the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 Founders Edition to a graphics core frequency above 3.0 GHz, although at the presentation itself, an NVIDIA representative announced only reaching 3.0 GHz. It’s likely that the flagship series graphics cards have overclocking potential that is still worth checking out, but there is some bad news in the EK announcement. The thing is that the cost of this water block is simply cosmic – the EK-Quantum Vector² FE RTX 4090 is sold for 249 euros, which is approximately $ 250.
Here I would like to recall that the RTX 3060 video card at the time of the start of sales was sold for $ 339, but at the moment the cost of the base model of the last generation line from official retailers is exactly $ 250. Accordingly, EK is selling a water block for the flagship RTX 4090 graphics card at the price of an affordable RTX 3060 graphics card, which will certainly upset potential buyers. On the other hand, the RTX 40 line of graphics cards turned out to be insanely expensive even without a water block.
