Russia announced today that it intends to bring to the United Nations Security Council the drone attack in Sevastopol Bay on the annexed Crimean peninsula, as well as the explosions that damaged the Nord Stream 1 and 2 pipelines in Baltic Sea in September.
“The Russian side intends to draw the attention of the international community, mainly through the UN Security Council, to the terrorist attacks committed against Russia in the Black Sea and the Baltic, withn involvement of Britain“, the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova, said on Telegram.
The Russian military claims it repelled a “massive” drone attack against the Black Sea Fleet in Crimea, which he attributed to Ukraine and Britain.
Crimea, which Russia annexed in 2014, is used as a base for the Russian fleet and for logistical support of the war in Ukraine. Military and civilian installations on the peninsula have been repeatedly targeted in recent months.
Pro-Russian authorities on the peninsula announced in the early hours of the morning that ships of the Russian fleet in Sevastopol Bay had repelled the attack and that all drones had been shot down.
