The Russian analogue of the SpaceX Starship super-heavy rocket will appear after 2030. But by that time, the Americans can already land on Mars

Elon Musk’s SpaceX is hard at work on the huge Staship rocket, which, according to the plan, will be able to deliver people to both the Moon and Mars: Starship orbital tests should begin this year, and a flight to the Red Planet is expected before the end of the decade. Russia, alas, has nothing to answer to this yet: according to Dmitry Rogozin, we will have a super-heavy launch vehicle after 2030.

“To send a crew to the moon, a super-heavy rocket is needed. We have all the components to create such a powerful complex. We plan to implement the super-heavy launch vehicle project within the time frame that we spoke about earlier, for 2030″– said Dmitry Rogozin.

According to the general director of Roscosmos, to deliver the crew to the Moon, a heavy manned spacecraft is needed, which will pass the necessary flight design tests in low Earth orbit.

“We will be able to organize a manned mission to the Moon when we fully test the system for landing and taking off from the Moon, which will be based on the technology of the Luna-28 mission,” he explained. Recall that today Dmitry Rogozin announced that the Luna-26 and Luna-27 missions are likely to be postponed: Roscosmos redirected financial and production resources to increase the orbital grouping.
