The Russian electric motorcycle Aurus Merlon will receive a civilian version. Design already shown

Yesterday, January 25, during a session answering questions about the latest Russian electric motorcycle Aurus Merlon, Evgeny Torzhenov, project manager, told very good news for those fans of two-wheeled vehicles who dreamed of getting a domestic novelty in their collection. The fact is that when answering a question about the future of the production model, a company representative said that Aurus Merlon in the near future may well go on free sale. This means that the Russian electric motorcycle will have a so-called “civilian” version.

At the same time, Torzhenov believes that one should not expect much excitement for the Aurus Merlon, since the cost of the Russian electric vehicle is high enough for the motorcycle to be in great demand on the market. In addition, the electric Aurus Merlon has noticeably less range on a single charge than similar motorcycles, only on internal combustion engines. This is especially important to take into account, taking into account the length of the country, which is not always comfortable to travel even on electric cars with a power reserve of 500 kilometers. And, of course, the Aurus Merlon has a very specific body design, which is also not suitable for all fans of this vehicle segment.

However, the motorcycle developers initially, when designing platform solutions for a new vehicle, included in the design the possibility of implementing a civilian version in the future. According to Yevgeny Torzhenov, a civilian motorcycle may well be of interest to the end buyer, but, of course, it will not be a mass product either – it will be a model from the luxury segment with an appropriate price. And in order for potential buyers to roughly understand what the civilian production version of the Aurus Merlon will look like, NAMI employees showed an approximate design of the new vehicle, which will not have to be accompanied by motorcades and stuff like that. The platform in this case remains unchanged, but the design changes almost completely.

Representatives of the NAMI press service officially confirmed that when designing a special-purpose conceptual motorcycle, the engineers took into account proposals for the further development of the project. For example, specialists developed a novelty, including with an eye to release on the commercial market. True, the press service clarified that although the approximate design of the motorcycle is already ready, now the target audience of the civilian production model has not yet been determined – this will be dealt with later.
