The Russian embassy in Berlin is protesting

Russia has complained to the German government about “discrimination” and other acts of aggression against Russians, even in schools.

According to the German News Agency (DPA), the Russian embassy in Berlin is protesting against incidents of “discrimination” and other aggressive behavior against Russian citizens. In particular, the Russian diplomatic mission claims that it has received “hundreds” of reports of insults, threatening letters, and provocations against Russians, of “mobbing” against students of Russian descent in German schools, as well as of damage to cars with Russian license plates.

“We consider unacceptable any expression of discrimination and any violation of the rights of our citizens and the Russian-speaking population in Germany,” the Russian embassy was quoted as saying by the DPA. Russia’s Interfax news agency reported that Russia’s ambassador to Berlin, Sergei Nechayev, had sent a note of protest to the German Foreign Ministry, urging “a strong message from the German government to the local authorities and state authorities.” to put an end to this discrimination “.

And discrimination against … Ukrainians

This is an issue that has not been of much concern to German public opinion to date. A report on the German First Channel (ARD) on Friday, however, points out that there have indeed been incidents of aggression and even criminal acts against people of Russian descent. Propaganda and broken shop windows in Russian stores are mentioned, among others. The report even records the concern of the police that such incidents may multiply.

At the same time, however, similar behaviors are being recorded against people of Ukrainian descent. Six cases of violence against Ukrainians have been reported in the East German state of Saxony alone, according to the Report. The Ministry of the Interior in the state of Rhineland-Palatinate speaks of an “emotionally charged situation”.

Experts are now considering taking additional measures, such as strengthening police protection in Russian or Ukrainian institutions and organizations during mass demonstrations.
