According to the government’s order, the employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Economic Development, the Federal Tax Service and Rosfinmonitoring with the assistance of the Investigative Committee and the Bank of Russia will have to be checked.
The departments are required to put in practice laws No. 259 “On digital financial assets, digital currency and amendments to certain legislative acts of the Russian Federation” and No. 115 “On Combating the legalization (laundering) of income received by criminal means and financing of terrorism”.
Based on the results of monitoring, the government intends to “improve the process of legal regulation” of digital currencies, the cabinet said.
The day before, the Russian government introduced a draft federal law to the State Duma, which introduces fines for illegal mining and an “illegal organization of cryptocurrency turnover”.
