The Russian orbital station can become a point for the processing of space debris

The state corporation Roscosmos intends to process space debris on board the future Russian orbital service station. This was reported to the TASS news agency by the executive director of Roskosmos, Alexander Bloshenko. He considers this to be quite an interesting direction, so the engineers of the corporation are already facing such a task, but first they need to conduct appropriate experiments and have results.

According to Bloshenko, it would be wise to move on to the construction of an orbital station, first creating a facility for processing space debris and satellites that have ended their operation.

Back in April last year, the Russian authorities announced the possibility of creating their own orbital station, since the state of the ISS leaves much to be desired. The first for the station should be the scientific and energy module, which was originally planned to dock to the ISS in 2024. It is being developed by Energia Rocket and Space Corporation. Roskosmos took the initiative to include work on the creation of a technical project for a new orbital station in the Federal Space Program 2025.
