The Russian Prime Minister called on citizens to stand united behind President Putin

The Russian Prime Minister Michael Mishustin said today that the country faced “a challenge to its stability” and must remain united behind the president Vladimir Putinafter the failed mutiny of the mercenary Wagner organization.

In the first public comments by a senior Russian official on the incident, Mishustin, during a televised cabinet meeting, called on citizens to show national unity in the face of Western efforts to undermine Russia. “The main issue in these conditions is to ensure the sovereignty and independence of our country, the security and well-being of the citizens,” said Mishustin, a technocrat who was appointed prime minister in 2020, APE – BPE reports.

“For this reason (…) we must act together, as a team, and maintain it unity of all forces around the president,” he added. “As the president pointed out, almost the entire military, economic, communication machine of the West is against us,” assessed the Russian prime minister.
