The Russian Tax Service will deal with miners

The Federal Tax Service of the Russian Federation (FTS) will develop and maintain a register of miners. About this in your Telegram channel reported Deputy Anton Gorelkin.

The appearance of the register is one of the points in the legislative regulation of mining. In addition to the tax office, the Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Communications of the Russian Federation was considered as an authorized authority.

“This is the right and logical step, since the Federal Tax Service is one of our most high-tech departments. And the department has much more experience working with the cryptocurrency market, as well as with miners, than the Ministry of Digital Development,” explained Gorelkin.

The regulation on the register of miners will come into force on November 1, 2024. Inclusion in it will be mandatory for Russian legal entities and individual entrepreneurs wishing to mine cryptocurrencies on an industrial scale. The requirement does not apply to individuals who comply with government energy consumption limits.

In this way, the authorities intend to fight unscrupulous market participants.

In the near future, the regulator will have to determine the set of information provided by miners, as well as measures to protect this information. Among the options is to make a registry closed.

On July 30, the State Duma of the Russian Federation adopted in the second and third readings a bill on regulating the mining of cryptocurrencies in the country. The main provisions of the document came into force on September 1.
