Following the fall of the city of Lisitsansk on Sunday, the focus of hostilities in eastern Ukraine has now shifted from the Lugansk region to Donetsk, the Ukrainian general staff said on Monday.
The Ukrainian armed forces yesterday repelled Russian attacks near the villages of Bilokhorivka and Verkhnokamyansk, on the administrative borders of the two eastern regions, according to the Ukrainian staff.
A power station in Burlegirsk, west of Svitlodarsk, which has been seized by pro-Russian separatists, has again turned into a battlefield, according to the Ukrainian military.
However, Russian troops recorded territorial gains north of the city of Sloviansk, near the village of Mazanivka. While Ukrainian positions in various sectors of the front were pounded by artillery, multiple rocket launchers, howitzers and, in some cases, by the Russian Air Force.
